Classi Nance
installation, photography, social practice
Classi Nance is a conceptual and social practice artist living in Dallas. Her current practice is based in photography and installation.
Through our work we operate an artist-run studio space, residency and gallery where we focus on object-making and the artistic process as access points for empowerment. Our space moves towards establishing sustainable systems of celebratory inclusion and support. Since opening in May of 2016 Sunset has increased access to the arts in southern Dallas with area partners.
providing free studio space to artists who identify as a part of marginalized groups
offering free community arts programming to reduce geographic and social barriers of seeing and engaging with art
As the cornerstone of the Sunset Art Studios social practice framework, we encourage collaborative processes, participatory making, and group experiences with the public that are guided by each resident’s area of focus. This program is ideal for early-career artists who lack studio space and look for a network of social support and professional development.

We operate an artist sustainability program grounded in equitable access to affordable studio space. Studio artists are also included in a supportive artist network through group chats, monthly studio dinners, and quarterly critique nights.
